I support a class in which students are expected to cite social media as a primary source for their research (alongside other primary sources, including publicly available government filings, as well as more traditional academic secondary and tertiary sources).
Here's a question: would this kind of "updating" be appropriate for a public library to do in case of an emergency, like, on social media or a blog? A part of me likes the idea. Somebody check my ethics.
The flip-side is that it potentially gives him up-to-the-minute updates on how close to catching him they are. I think conventional news, rightly or wrongly, are concerned about that part of the equation, too.
