My first introduction to Robert "D!" Leigh and the Public Library Inquiry -- thanks, Caroline, for carrying this history forward, and posing some timeless questions!
When I wrote "Introduction to Public Librarianship" now in 3rd edition I made sure to include the PLI. I don't know how well my text is used, but at least the PLI is included with a list of the volumes. I find many students cite the Fobazi blog. The long path from the founding of our libraries to current time has been rich with self-analysis. This is an essay I will include when I teach the Public Library Seminar this fall. In addition to Leigh I would like to remind everyone of my personal hero, Carleton B. Joeckel to whom I think U.S. librarianship owes so much. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carleton_B._Joeckel

I tweeted this--not that many people see that. I also just added to my fall class syllabus.
Thank you, Kathleen! I have long admired your work.
FYI, just finished the week that included a link to this post and the students really enjoyed it. I mention the PLI --but you brought it alive.
My first introduction to Robert Leigh as well!
Adding this to my 510 syllabus.
