The Red Pill is an excellent book. Strong internal logic embedded in a fast moving and engaging story. I genuinely do not understand why this book has not gotten more positive attention. Blake Nelson's other books, such as Girl and The Prince of Venice Beach are also fun and engaging reads.
I have The Prince of Venice Beach around here too-- need to get around to it! Maybe there was an effort to suppress attention for The Red Pill because it was too nuanced and showed some empathy for the other "side."
Yeah, after reading Girl and the Prince of Venice Beach, I picked up The Red Pill. I was a little scared to read it based on what I had read about it. But, that also made me want to read it even more. I should caveat- I'm just a reader and I don't know anything about book publishing or promotion. But I do know something about Portland, OR (as a lifelong resident), and the protest about the book at Powells Books seemed ill informed (as in - the protestors did not read the book, and may have been reacting to Red Pill ideology more generally). The nook is nuanced and well thought out. It's also surprisingly funny and relatable. Full disclosure: Blake Nelson's Substack Travel to Distant Cities is what finally convinced me to join Substack. I just like his writing alot.
That sounds great. I just bought one. It can sit next to Girl on the shelf until I get to both of them.
I recommend Dream School as well. Just started The City Wants You Alone now that it is finally available in print.
Noted. Thanks.

That is exactly what happened. Thanks for this intelligent review S. !
