With news coming at us ever faster these days, I feel sympathetic toward these twitter/ X users who find communication difficult with their friends, family, and acquaintances who don’t use the platform. The news seems to come fastest on X and is uncensored to boot. The gulf with nonusers seems ever more difficult to bridge:
Do you find it difficult to converse about current affairs with anyone who is not on X or Telegram? I find it "patience testing" if I may put it that way!
Hanging out with people who aren’t on X is exhausting. They’re always behind on what’s happening, and every conversation feels like a briefing session.
Right there with you, brother. It’s even worse on Facebook—people are weeks behind on news and still ask me for proof and links because they refuse to get on X. Feels like running a full-time briefing service.
You are part of the collective consciousness on X; this allows you to sift through data at a much faster rate because you are using many minds at once. I try to be more patient to those who are not on X, they cannot match that rate in any other format that is currently available.
Facebook is the absolute worst. The most uninformed people on the planet screaming at you that they know everything.
Bless those who dare to post political opinions on Facebook. I know the fight needs to happen there, too; I don't have the stomach for it.

I tried Twitter a couple of times (when that what it was called) but could never make a go of it, just never used it. But there's a lot of paid-for manipulation going on on X that is warping our minds: check out James Lindsay's latest podcast episode, "We Are the Fake News Now." https://youtu.be/jCOWpHRJzZQ?si=uJzeSK4XE50R7zH4
I'm on X and BlueSky. The former is far better on news.
